Tada! After only two afternoons, the free silver price API I said I was going to build is live. It even has its own baby website with no stylesheet:

A free JSON API that provides the day’s bid price for silver in CAD and USD, for use in simple financial Excel worksheets and applications

Consider it unstable for the time being. While I get testing and monitoring properly configured, the prices might not update on a predictable schedule, or be correct. But it’s better than nothing!

In the long run, I hope to provide a daily average, but at the moment, it’s a single snapshot of the bid price of silver at the time indicated.

You can use it in a LibreOffice Calc worksheet with the following formula:
